Acceptable Use Policy

1. Our Community Values

Every interaction on the Platform should reflect:

• Compassion: The people at the center of every campaign are facing cancer. Treat them, and everyone in their community, with care and dignity.
• Honesty: Campaigns must truthfully represent the Survivor's situation. Donations are acts of trust.
• Respect: This is a diverse community. Differences in background, belief, and experience are welcome. Hostility is not.
• Privacy: Survivors and their families are sharing deeply personal experiences. Honor that vulnerability.

2. Prohibited Content

Fraud and Misrepresentation

• Creating a campaign based on a fabricated, exaggerated, or materially false cancer diagnosis
• Misrepresenting the identity of the Survivor, Angel, or Beneficiary
• Using someone else's photos, medical documents, or personal information without authorization
• Misrepresenting how funds will be used

Harassment and Abuse

• Threatening, bullying, intimidating, or harassing any user
• Targeting a user based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or veteran status
• Doxing (publishing private information about another person without consent)
• Mocking, belittling, or exploiting a Survivor's diagnosis or condition

Harmful or Dangerous Content

• Promoting self-harm, suicide, or violence
• Promoting unproven, dangerous, or fraudulent medical treatments or "cures"
• Spreading medical misinformation that could cause real-world harm
• Sexually explicit material, nudity, or exploitation of minors

Spam and Platform Manipulation

• Unsolicited commercial advertisements, promotions, or solicitations
• Using bots or automated tools to create content, accounts, or interactions
• Creating multiple accounts to evade bans or manipulate metrics
• Exploiting bugs or vulnerabilities instead of reporting them
• Using the Platform to launder money, finance terrorism, or facilitate illegal activity

3. Campaign Rules

• Campaigns must be created to support an individual with a cancer diagnosis (active treatment, remission, or memorial). Campaigns for other medical conditions, non-medical causes, or general fundraising are not permitted.
• The Survivor's cancer diagnosis must be genuine. We reserve the right to request verification.
• Campaign descriptions must accurately reflect the Survivor's situation and how funds will be used.
• Generally, only one active campaign should exist per Survivor at any time.
• Funds raised must be used for the benefit described in the campaign (medical expenses, living expenses, transportation, childcare, etc.).
• Funds may not be used for personal enrichment of the Angel (unless the Angel is also the Survivor/Beneficiary), political contributions, illegal activities, or purposes materially different from what was described to donors.
• Memorial campaigns honoring a Survivor who has passed away must be created respectfully and, where possible, with the knowledge of the Survivor's family.

4. User Conduct

• Do not share a Survivor's medical details beyond what they or their Angel have chosen to disclose.
• Do not share another user's personal information (address, phone, medical records, financial information) without explicit consent.
• Use the Platform only for its intended purpose: supporting cancer communities.
• Report content or behavior that violates these guidelines rather than retaliating.
• Do not share your login credentials or access another user's account without authorization.

5. Reporting Violations

If you encounter content or behavior that violates these guidelines:

• Report a Post or Comment: Use the "Report" function available on posts and comments within the Platform.
• Report a Campaign or User: Contact support@handfulofangels.com with the campaign name or user and a description of the concern.
• Urgent Safety Concerns: If you believe someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services (911) first, then notify us.

Our team reviews all reports. Reported content may be temporarily hidden during review. We may not share the specific outcome due to privacy considerations, but we take all reports seriously.

6. Enforcement

Depending on the severity, frequency, and context of a violation, we may:

• Warn the user with a notice explaining the violation
• Remove specific content that violates these guidelines
• Restrict certain account features temporarily
• Suspend the account for a defined period
• Permanently ban the account
• Freeze or reverse fund disbursements from fraudulent campaigns
• Report to law enforcement for illegal activity, fraud, or child exploitation

Zero Tolerance (Immediate Permanent Ban)

• Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or child exploitation
• Credible threats of violence
• Confirmed campaign fraud (fabricated diagnosis for financial gain)
• Money laundering or terrorist financing

Appeals

If you believe an enforcement action was taken in error, you may appeal by emailing support@handfulofangels.com within 30 days. Appeals are reviewed by a different team member than the one who made the original decision. We will respond within 10 business days.

7. Disclaimer

HOA facilitates community support but does not verify every campaign's legitimacy or every user's identity in advance. The presence of a campaign on the Platform does not constitute an endorsement of its accuracy. Users are responsible for their own decisions about which campaigns to support and how much to donate.

We strive to enforce these guidelines consistently, but we cannot monitor all content in real time. We rely on our community to report violations.
