I'm Bob. A few years ago my mother was diagnosed with cancer. Rounds of chemo, endless appointments, the long drives in between. I was by her side every chance I got.
Here is what I noticed. Everyone who loved her wanted to help, and none of them knew how. Within a week there were ten group chats. Family in one. Old friends in another. Coworkers. Neighbors. Every one of them was full of love, and not one of them reached her hospital bed. She never saw most of it.
She never saw most of it. It was all in group chats she wasn't in.
What actually helped was small. Someone walking in with a story. A hand held through a bad afternoon. A nurse who laughed at my jokes. Those moments did more for her than I expected, and they did something for everyone in the room.
So I built one place. A private page for one person, reached only by the link their people share. Everyone who loves them writes there, posts photos there, and if they want to, gives there. The person it's for opens it when they're ready, to a room already full. Then they decide what happens next.
If someone you love was just diagnosed, I hope you'll build them one. And if something here is wrong, or missing, or you just want to tell me about your person, write to me. I read every message.
Build someone their page.
It takes a few minutes. They won't see it until you're ready.
